About Us

Purpose

The University of Toronto Civil Engineering Club shall promote student interaction and participation in social and academic activities that aim to strengthen and improve the student community. Furthermore, the Club will represent the interest of the Civil Engineering undergraduate students to the Civil Department, the Engineering Faculty, the University at large, and other influential groups.

Membership

All undergraduate students currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering program at the University of Toronto are considered members of the Club. This includes students who are on their Professional Experience Year (PEY).

Nada Al-alawi, Vice-Chair

Baneen Kazmi, Marketing Director

Hey there, I’m Baneen! I am very excited to be back as your marketing director this year with Nivin. In my free time, I like to do archery, find new coffee recipes and journal.

Nivin Khan, Marketing Director

This is my second year marketing for Civ Club, now with Baneen! I love promoting the work we do to improve the uni experience for Civs! I also enjoy books, movies, walks, and photography!

Deniz Abarca, Social Director

Excited to meet cool new people, have fun, and forget about school work! I unwind through jazz, nature, and Oreo McFlurries!!

Juliana Lacida, Social Director

I can’t wait to plan fun, memorable events that bring our community closer together! A couple of fun facts about me—I’m a big football (soccer) fan, both playing and watching, and I love diving into a good book when I get the chance.

Keisha Albert, Mentorship Director

I am thrilled to see the wonderful connections made through the Civ Club mentorship program. One fun fact about myself is that I have a black belt in karate and spent two summers teaching young kids karate.

Michael Hollander, Academic Director

Hi everyone! My name’s Michael Hollander and I’m going into third year. I’m looking forward to supporting your academic success this year! A fun fact about me is that I often go on middle-distance runs as part of my commute.

Shirly Tian, Finance Director

I’m the new finance director for CivClub and I’m excited to plan for events as well as improving CivClub. A fun fact about me is that I indulge in trashy romance books and shows to get a good laugh.

Mike Le, Business Director

Hello! I’m the new business director. In my free time, I like trying new restaurants, working out, watching classic movies, and travelling when I can. I hope to seek fundraising initiatives to facilitate new events, merch, and fun competitions.

Aqsam Chaudhary, Common Room Director

Hi everyone, I’m excited to be your common room director this year! I will make sure it is clean and a safe place to relax with our busy schedules. My hobbies include gardening, hiking, and I love meeting new people so come and chat!

Rami Farhat, Common Room Director

Hello, everyone! I’m looking forward to being your Common Room Director this year and creating a relaxing, welcoming space for all Civ students. A few things about me is that I enjoy listening to PND, playing tennis, and skiing!

Diya Malhotra, Webmaster

I’m super excited to be this year’s Webmaster. I love finding creative ways to bring people together. Fun fact: I’ve published my own poetry book! I’m looking forward to making our website a fun, helpful space for all Civ students. 🙂
